Steeplechase a Dream Today
Caitlin Yager was a Marietta College student who had a passion for traveling, social justice and running. Her life was cut short by a car accident in December 2013 that she, her parents, and her brother were involved in over winter break from college. Caitlin was planning to spend the last two weeks of winter break in Nicaragua working with Bridges to Community and then spend her sophomore spring semester abroad in Russia. Caitlin was a member of the track and cross county teams at Marietta College. The students and faculty of Marietta College want to preserve the spirit of service and curiosity that Caitlin embodied by hosting a 5K run/walk in her name. The proceeds of the run will contribute to The Caitlin Yager Fund for an International Alternative Winter Break Experience, a fund that will support Marietta College students planning to participate in a service project as part of the College's International Alternative Winter Break Program. The Course This 5K race will be located primarily along the River Trail in Marietta, Ohio. Enjoy a flat, fast race on an entirely paved course that runs alongside the Ohio and Muskingum rivers. There will be an aide station at the halfway point with mile-markers placed every half-mile during the race! Walkers are also very welcome! Shirts Race shirts guaranteed to all who Pre-Register. Shirts will be available on Race Day while supplies last. Awards Awards will be given to the top 3 male and female finishers in running and walking categories, as well as the top two finishers in each age group for both categories. |
